Every wonderful thing that has ever been accomplished in this wonderful nation was accomplished by the American middle class. The colonist farmers that fought (and won) the American Revolutionary War were our first middle class. Every small business owner in this country was or is middle class. Every construction you see as you tour this great country was the work of the American middle class. [What billionaire ever poured a foundation or laid one line of brick on another? (excluding Warren Buffett) - ed.] Every foot of street, highway or railroad line, coast to coast, was laid by the American middle class [and Chinese coolies - ed.]. Every automobile, truck, bus, locomotive and railroad car, boat and ship, aircraft and spacecraft that was and is built and operated in the United States was built and operated by the middle class. Our every invention came from middle class minds and middle class hands. The author of this essay is middle class, as are you, Dear Reader. Everything is middle class-built, even the Federal Reserve Bank buildings. Our police forces, National Guards, and the U.S. military are staffed and operated by the American middle class.

If you feel you are not advancing in life and are driving a 1980s rust-bucket rather than the 3-liter B.M.W. convertible you envisioned and are hesitant to leave your position with Burger King for fear that you will never find anything better, you may feel like David Byrne: "This is not my beautiful wife!"; "Where is my large automobile?"
So why don't we have everything that we should have: a good automobile, a good job and, eventually, a nice affordable home?
Time to get some answers.
